Source of pride, responsibly developing one of Canada's largest natural resources
"[The Oilsands] a curse be if it is not properly managed, but it can also be a great gift to Canada and Alberta if managed properly," said avatar Director James Cameron.
Curses, the second largest deposit of oil in the world are known. But the Oilsands represent a gift levelling, Canadians and our neighbours. You should be a source of national pride, not ashamed. Here's why.
Oilsands critics argue the amount of greenhouse gas emissions issued from Oilsands production. But what we hear little about the production habits of other oil-exporting countries. For example, Nigeria burns the energy of a barrel of oil in all six in the environment while its extraction process. Alberta is the only province which has established a penalty of emissions for each Corporation, exceeds the predetermined CO2 levels. A penalty will be charged $15 per tonne, and about 122.4 million facility reducing carbon technologies and strategies were collected.
The enormous costs of reclaiming land of open pit mining drawn and the location of the oil well below the surface uses bitumen liquify led to steam assisted gravity drainage technology which is pressurized steam. The advantages are obvious. A small fountain head limited surface Störung-and no tailings ponds for migrating birds in to land.
The blessings of the Oilsands benefit all Canadians. The Government of Alberta calculated that is generated for each dollar of Oilsands investment another nine dollars of in economic activity. The economic multiplier effect on the Oilsands is one of the greatest gifts. Capital expenditures, to build the industrial facilities in Fort McMurray is estimated at about $190 billion. The operating equipment is another $1.5 trillion into the economy pump and 250,000 life-time employment.
The trickle effect extends across Alberta's borders. An estimated $55 billion will be spent in Ontario where 32,500 full time jobs. British Columbia is economic advantages to win in row to $45.5 billion.
Then there is the tax and royalty free revenue yet. The Federal Government will collect, $188 billion in taxes and all provinces share $118 billion in income, wage and payroll and sales taxes. License fees will amount to $184 billion.
Taken all together, the $690 billion would collected from Oilsands production over a 25 year period sufficient to wipe out Canada's national debt ($546 billion) and pay the annual budget of Ontario for a year ($125 billion). For a period of significant savings translates into a lot of hospitals, schools, social welfare programs, and transit improvements.
Our worldwide demand for oil will disappear any time soon. Boycotts and alarmist statements about the Oilsands change our need for oil. If Canada doesn't provide oil, be Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Iran or Nigeria countries with poor human rights records, disregard for democratic values and a thing for terrorist sponsoring.
Development of Oilsands national pride should be a source, pushes the type of pride that we work better for our generation and those who come.
